Much has happened since to verify the claims I made at that time of Taliban and other terrorist groups are being funded in a large part by drug money. I think it is time for me to address this issue in this newsletter. Terrorists, Drugs, Kids, Family September 11, 2001 was a day not soon forgotten. We witnessed a terrible and horrible catastrophe of monumental proportions. This well planned and coordinated act of terror captured the attention of the civilized world. The world has changed since that day and indications are we will never have the freedoms we once enjoyed unless we stomp out terrorism in all its shapes, forms and factions. Terrorism has many faces but its purposes are always the same. It not only destroys buildings and lives with its covert plans and suicide attacks, but it hopes to create fear and erode self-confidence making society feel unsure, unsafe and vulnerable. The terrorist strives to rule with threats and unpredictable violence. Terrorists strike, run and hide. They want the publicity of their attacks but avoid personal recognition. They do their work in secret. Terrorists are cowards. On November 15, 2001, President George W. Bush told students at the Crawford High School in Crawford, Texas the Taliban receive funds to operate and spread terrorism supplying illegal drugs to the world. “By destroying the Taliban we destroy a major supplier of drugs and you kids benefit directly,” he said. He then explained how our bombing was destroying large supplies of Opium based drugs. He said, “This prevents these drugs reaching markets throughout the world.” Since November President Bush has repeated and expanded upon this theme. Facts about terrorists’ financing have been made public and indeed it appears that much of the money taken in by the various drug cartels does finance terrorism. President Bush has called upon Americans to fight terrorism in all of its forms and has said that everyone has to help. “Each one has to be the eyes, the ears and noses to sniff out terrorist activities.” He has called upon parents to talk with their kids about drugs and find ways to stop them from purchasing those drugs. I expect we will hear more from the White House on this subject in the near future. I am struck by the similarity of the methods terrorists use and those used by people who distribute and sell drugs to the citizens of our nation. These drug distributors use violence, fear, secrecy and force to peddle slavery and destruction to our young people. In effect they are terrorists too. Though they do not use the tools of mass destruction to accomplish their work they are extremely effective and are bringing about a mass destruction of our society that is just as deadly and horrible. The large numbers of their victims are staggering and they grow daily. The dollar cost of recreational drug use to society is catastrophic and is escalating. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Family Action Tip: Regular family council meetings are a great time to plan family activities. Always plan a refreshment treat after your council meeting. Make assignments to children for specific tasks of planning, preparing and serving the treat. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * The smooth talking, friendly drug pushing terrorists are targeting our youth. They use loud music, rap, movies, videos and concerts to make bad manners, vulgarity, loose morals, irresponsible sex and drugs popular and acceptable. They bad mouth authority and responsibility and make fun of God, country and family values. They put down things that are good, wholesome, valuable and praiseworthy. Their money buys votes in our legislatures to change laws that make it easier for them to do their evil work and harder to fight them. They turn fine upstanding young people into zombies and slaves and law-breakers, their lives and futures being wasted. Recreational drug-use among our youth increases daily in all communities across our nation and around the world. Children in every community are becoming addicted to recreational drugs around the clock. Police, educators, clergy and legislators are frantically trying to control it. Shocked parents everywhere are asking, “What Happened? How? When? Where? Who? What do WE DO?” We should ask ourselves what we are personally doing to protect our children from those terrorists who destroy our youth one-at-a-time? The ‘War On Drugs’ is being waged but 98% of those funds and efforts go into stopping production and distribution and less than 2% goes into treatment and prevention programs. Studies show that those few prevention programs do in fact have positive results but more, much more has to be done. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * “Family Action Training, Don’t Let Your Kids Leave Home Without It!” Michael Meredith says you can get your Family Action Training Workshop Materials at our web site: http://www.kidsagainstdrugs.com * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * I believe a strong home-based program is needed so parents can learn about drugs and become Parents Against Drugs. Then they teach their own children about recreational drug-use and turn them into Kids Against Drugs. Primarily this program should be used in the home and its values and techniques should be reinforced in school, the work place and church. Stopping recreational drug-use starts in the home one-on-one within the family unit. I refer to the new home study workshop I have developed. I call it the Family Action Training Plan Home Workshop. This training plan gives parents the tools and information they need to learn the true facts about the recreational drug issue. It also shows them how to present this information to their own family. Our web site http://www.kidsagainstdrugs.com explains all about this program and how to get it. This is a valuable educational resource about recreational drugs. It’s for families, kids and teens. The teen area on the web site provides great information for school reports and activities. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * NOTICE: I just signed up with a NEW SPONSOR. I truly believe that talking good common sense facts and techniques with your kids, followed-up with loving support and continuous encouragement is the best method to help them turn down peer pressure and to stop experimenting with drugs. I believe this will do more to save the lives of our kids than the billions and billions of dollars spent to stop production and distribution will ever do. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ATTENTION GRANDPARENTS: Special Alert! Grandparents NOW HAVE a new unique opportunity to help their grandchildren turn into Kids Against Drugs. Sponsor the ‘Kids Against Drugs Family Action Training Plan’ into your grandchild’s home and then go through the whole program WITH them. Check it out at the Kids Against Drugs website at http://www.kidsagainstdrugs.com. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * This type of family activity has been proven over and over again to be very effective and builds a strong family. When you have a loving home environment with guidelines and rules you and the kids bond together and the children learn to trust your judgment. Of course it takes some preparation, some planning, timing and practice. It’s about families and it’s worth it. Kids love it. These terrorists’ have altered our life style, maybe for the better, in a dramatic way. Many of us have taken a step away and taken a look at their values and have made adjustments. I believe we should seize the moment and consider our relationships with our children and other family members. In our economy, supply and demand creates the market. If kids and the other users worldwide stopped buying and using drugs, then there would be no demand and no reason for the producers to produce. In our own small way we would stop the cash flow those drug purchases create and stop funding terrorism. Without money terrorism would have a harder time to succeed. Yes, it’s a simple approach, but I assure you it is the only way that will really work over the long term. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * If you have any suggestions or want to contribute articles and stories, please submit them to us by sending e-mail to: Click Here * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * IMPORTANT NOTICE: In order for us to spread our message to the world we are doing a couple of things here. The White House has launched an all out media blitz about drugs and terrorism. It will be interesting to see how this unfolds. There is already an uproar from the left crying foul play. I support the White House and stand by what I have stated here and on previous radio programs. President Bush’s call for parents to talk to their kids about drugs is welcome support to those who are on the front lines. I’ve received several pieces of e-mail this past week from kids extolling the virtues of various types of drugs, all the while saying that the hard drugs are the only ones really bad. I think I shall address this issue in a future newsletter. 20 years ago I took on the challenge to find and do something about stopping recreational drug-use. I have learned much along the way. It has been exciting and a challenge. I ask you to join me in the Campaign For Drug-Free Families and become a Parent Against Drugs? Will you share this great program with your family, especially your kids? I believe the best protection from personable drug-pushing terrorists is a well-prepared Kid Against Drugs. Being part of the Kids Against Drugs Campaign For Drug-Free Families will give you the tools and support to turn your kid into a Kid Against Drugs. Thank you for subscribing and I welcome you. I promise I will use every tool and my total effort to make this e-zine a valuable and informative publication. Sincerely, Michael J. Meredith, Publisher.
