Please forward this on to them. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Weekly Thought: ‘First we abhor, then we tolerate, then we embrace.’ unknown * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Many things have happened to me since my last issue. I want to share some with you. The Producers of the CBS sitcom “The Education of Max Bickford” contacted me. Over a four-day period we worked out arrangements for them to use our materials as props on an up coming episode. This show will air on Sunday the 14th of April 2002 on CBS at 9 PM EST. I sent a news release to more than 3500 media outlets including newspapers, TV and Radio. In addition this particular Press Release Service has more than 120,000 subscribers to their service. This news release was also sent to those subscribers. You can find the news release posted at: http://www1.internetwire.com/iwire/release_html_b1?release_id=39309 I also found another press release service and posted the news release with them. I’m receiving some very interesting calls and e-mail. Of course the ‘hate mail’ comes every day and this just increased the amount of it. On the great side several new subscribers have signed up for this E-zine and we have had several new affiliates join us. I received a call from a Public Relations Firm from Ft. Lauderdale, FL and we worked out arrangements for them to do a video press release that will be up linked to the satellite and then distributed to more than 800 TV stations nationwide. We are going to shoot the video and produce the spot during the middle of April. It will go up a day or so after that. I have expanded and reworked the web site in anticipation of this exposure. I have added a sponsor’s area, with several sub-pages, a newsletter archive, banners and buttons for linking to other sites and made refinements throughout the site, especially in the affiliate area. We were having problems with the shopping cart ‘speaking’ to the processing center and got those all worked out. I have written and re-written several brochures to bring them into alignment with the web site. I am waiting for bids to print the Family Action Training Plan Workbook in hard copy. I will use these hardcopies in my seminars. I am presently working out arrangements to do seminars in several different cities. I have been writing and designing the ‘Power Point’ presentation and should have it ready soon. I am excited about these seminars and look forward to doing them. I love talking with people in groups about this program and this should be fun and special. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Some Will, Some Won’t It might be noted here that ‘The White House Office of National Drug Control Policy to Reduce Youth Drug Use In the Local Community’ has recently started ‘The National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign’. We are all watching the TV ads linking drug purchases and terrorism but have you been aware of the articles appearing in the local media? Yup, there is an organized concerted effort among the various media types to join forces with the White House on this issue. I think it’s great. An example of a weekly series about the drug issue is the series found in Utah’s ‘Deseret News’. You can find these wonderful, well-written and informative articles at http://deseretnews.com/dn/view/0,1249,380007229,00.html. Many newspapers, magazines, TV programs (i.e. CBS’s “The Education of Max Bickford” mentioned above), documentaries, radio talk show guests and such are going to be part of the media scene for the next few months. All of this media exposure about the drug issue is going to have a powerful impact upon the public. There are even some who will have the courage to quit using drugs and many who will resolve to never use them. Of course this attention raises the awareness level very high and will make it much easier for us to be heard. It becomes even more important for us to let everyone we know about our program. From what I have been able to discover we are the only ones who have a program for parents, to help them show their kids how to be Kids Against Drugs. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Family Action Tip: Spending time with your kids is vitally important in the parent/child bonding experience. Activities together such as housework, yard-work, building or landscaping projects, annual house cleaning projects, family history research, school home work assignments, research projects, sewing, knitting, model building, model railroading, quilt making, baking, cooking, reading together the scriptures and other good books, music lessons and any other activity around the house that you can do together is time well spent. Watching TV or playing video games and those activities that take the concentration on each other away and focuses it on the computer or TV screen are not the best activities to use to bond with one another. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * With all of this awareness going around you’d think that it would stop something as bad for people as recreational drug use. People should be excited to learn that they could take steps to get away from it. Experience has shown that the ones using recreational drugs will scoff at this type of notoriety but there are also those who have yet to experiment will receive information that will help them resolve never to use recreational drugs. In essence, some will and some won’t. I don’t believe that I will stop many from using recreational drugs that are already using them unless we get a large number of people all across the nation who are using the Family Action Training plan and parents become a Parent Against Drugs. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * “Family Action Training, Don’t Let Your Kids Leave Home Without It!” Michael Meredith says you can get your Family Action Training Workshop Materials at our web site: http://www.kidsagainstdrugs.com * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * I believe a strong home-based program is needed so parents can learn about drugs and become Parents Against Drugs. Then they teach their own children about recreational drug-use and turn them into Kids Against Drugs. Primarily this program should be used in the home and its values and techniques should be reinforced in school, the work place and church. Stopping recreational drug-use starts in the home one-on-one within the family unit. I refer to the new home study workshop I have developed. I call it the Family Action Training Plan Home Workshop. This training plan gives parents exactly what they need to learn the true facts about the recreational drug issue. It also shows them how to present this information to their own family. Our web site http://www.kidsagainstdrugs.com explains all about this program and how to get it. This is a valuable educational resource about recreational drugs. It’s for families, kids and teens. The teen area on the web site provides great information for school reports and activities. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * NOTICE: I just signed up with a NEW SPONSOR. It is called the Internet Eye Doctor. He offers great deals on contact lenses and other eyeglass things. His prices are great and service is first rate and fast. He also has a fantastic affiliate plan if you are interested in earning a few extra dollars. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * The number one reason kids try drugs is peer pressure. I truly believe that talking good common sense facts and techniques with your kids, followed-up with loving support and continuous encouragement is the best method to help them turn down peer pressure and to stop experimenting with drugs. I believe this will do more to save the lives of our kids than the billions and billions of dollars spent to stop production and distribution will ever do. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ATTENTION GRANDPARENTS: Special Alert! Grandparents NOW HAVE a new unique opportunity to help their grandchildren turn into Kids Against Drugs. Sponsor the ‘Kids Against Drugs Family Action Training Plan’ into your grandchild’s home and then go through the whole program WITH them. Check it out at the Kids Against Drugs website at http://www.kidsagainstdrugs.com. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * This type of family activity has been proven over and over again to be very effective and builds a strong family. When you have a loving home environment with guidelines and rules you and the kids bond together and the children learn to trust your judgment. Of course it takes some preparation, some planning, timing and practice. It’s about families and it’s worth it. Kids love it. These terrorists have altered our life style, maybe for the better, in a dramatic way. Many of us have taken a step away and taken a look at their values and have made adjustments. I believe we should seize the moment and consider our relationships with our children and other family members. In our economy, supply and demand creates the market. If kids and the other users worldwide stopped buying and using drugs, then there would be no demand and no reason for the producers to produce. In our own small way we would stop the cash flow those drug purchases create and stop funding terrorism. Without money terrorism would have a harder time to succeed. Yes, it’s a simple approach, but I assure you it is the only way that will really work over the long term. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * I want to include a great article about a wonderful family activity from Dionna Sanchez.
