Explain: “We will discuss the different drugs and the ways they can hurt you in the next two or three discussions. Right now we are going to discuss where we find drugs and how we can fight them.”

Ask: “Where can you find drugs around our area?” Be cautious here, they may not want to divulge all they know. Right now we just want them to start thinking about drugs in a different light. Just press for general answers such as: school, church, 7-11, the Mall and the so and so corner. They should agree that they are pretty easy to find at any time. Write the list on the board.

Have the assigned family member give the report about ‘Raves’, what they are, what happens and what they are about. Take notes of the discussion following the report.

Discuss the report: Ask questions about local ‘Raves’, who has them, where they are taking place, if drugs are available there, who goes to them and what happens? Again, they may not want to be too specific at this time.

Say: “Religious leaders, law enforcement people, educators, coaches and parents all are issuing warnings to stay away from ‘Raves’. They are not safe for anyone to attend, especially young people. Young people will endanger their lives, their health and their future by attending a ‘Rave’.”

Ask: “Are ‘Raves’ the kind of places to which we should go for entertainment or is it best that we stay away?” “Why?”
