What is Family Action Training?Family Action Training (FAT) is based upon the belief that the family is the essential unit in society. The Family Action Training Plan is designed to promote communication, relationship building and service starting with the family. Therefore by using the Family Action Training Plan we build stronger families by protecting them from recreational drugs and as our families grow stronger so does our society.
How does this program work? This program will give parents the resources to strengthen the family circle while promoting the concept of an individual's infinite worth. As children recognize their worth, their self-esteem is elevated and they are empowered to make correct choices and avoid the dangers of society. Back to Top

My kids don't use drugs. Does this really pertain to me?We hear this question quite often and we always encourage parents to be on the offensive when it comes to substance abuse education. Kids can't get too much information on this disturbing topic. They are being "peer-pressured" daily to indulge in a devastating habit and need an anchor of teaching, training and reinforcement from home. Whether they admit it or not, it is sometimes a comfort to know that, when all else fails, they can use mom and dad as an excuse to say no. Back to Top
Does Family Action Training just pertain to drugs? No, as the title suggests there are a number of family related issues that the skills learned through the Family Action Training Plan can be used. We are in the process of developing these topics further. As they become available they will be announced through our newsletter.
I'm a grandparent. Can I use this program with my grandkids? You sure can! This is a "whole family" program. Grandparents, extended family members, and even adult siblings, need to become involved. In fact, all homes in the extended family should be encouraged to become drug-free zones so that the rules are the same in each home and your kids can feel secure when they visit. This has the effect of multiplying the power and validity of what the children are learning at home. Back to Top
How long does it take to go through the discussion materials? There are seven discussions which include follow-up activities to extend your family experience. The length of time you spend is entirely dependent upon how thoroughly you want to cover the discussion material and how quickly everyone understands the information. Back to Top
What are the "other modules" of the program and how do I get them? The Kids Against Drugs Family Action Training Plan is the first module in a series concerning everyday issues a family faces. Additional information and materials will be available at a later time to assist the parent/family member/friend in covering the subject of establishing family boundary's and values. These materials will be introduced directly to our subscribers through our monthly updates and by e-mail. Further, discussions and materials covering other vitally important issues are being prepared and will be introduced as they are available.
How will it make a difference?Families can be
strengthened as they come together and share, through a process of teaching one
another. We believe that each person is of infinite worth has a stewardship to
enrich themselves, their family and the society in which they live.
Why are you charging for this program and information? This is a fair question. I have observed that government-sponsored programs are expensive to operate, seek the lowest common denominator, and have many strings attached. In my several-year association with an international, non-profit organization, we assumed a "Poor us! You've just got to help!" attitude and posture. I prefer creating and distributing a quality product or program that is uplifting and urges others to "seek a higher ground" by helping people to improve their individual and family situation. There is a wonderful feeling generated when one invests in something that is packed with value for himself and his family rather than receiving an ill-conceived handout that crushes the self-respect of the one receiving it and which has no lasting impact for good. It is my belief that a program or product should pay it's own way in a free-market environment. People always find a way to buy what they want (i.e., videos, CDs, movies, clothes, cars, food, ... and recreational drugs). I believe that, given the proper exposure, enormous numbers of people will enroll in our Family Action Training Plan and the impact on the members of that family and society in general will be powerful and enduring. What is causing your passion to do this? Did you have a personal or family problem with drugs? No, not directly, though we had some difficulty in the extended family. However I am a concerned father and grandparent. While I was working with Odyssey House International, I met hundreds of people who had devastated their lives, and the lives of their families and friends, by using drugs and other addictive substances. We lost many of these wonderful people to their addiction and my life has never been the same. I have decided to use the wealth of knowledge I gained from these experiences to warn and educate others about the appalling effects of drugs in the lives of abusers.
